Meet Claudia Kemper: President

Updated: May 1, 2019

Hi my name is Claudia Kemper and I am from Shreveport, Louisiana. I am a junior majoring in psychology at Louisiana Tech. College has been nothing less than what everyone tells me, “enjoy these days, they are the best time of your life.” At the start of college it for sure was an overwhelming process going from living at home to being on my own with all of my friends. It took time to find my place and get comfortable with all the change, but once I did, I never looked back. I have experienced some truly great things the past few years. I went through recruitment excited to meet new people and honestly that was all I had expected to gain from a sorority.  I was definitely blessed with the best friends I have ever had, but also so much more. I have learned how to be a better friend, be more competitive academically and professionally, and have been empowered to see different strengths in myself that I had never discovered before. Being apart of a group like Kappa Delta has given me people who care and are always looking out for each other. How nice is it to know that I have so many people to count on in college and to continue throughout the rest of my life. Now let's walk along memory lane and see a few of my favorite memories in Kappa Delta that have impacted my life for the better!

Meeting my big sis in KD has by far been one of the best parts. I remember going through the process of meeting the older girls, going on dinner dates, and the nerve-racking process of trying to figure out who would actually become my big sis. People kept telling Sydney and I that we were a lot of like, but after only knowing each other for a few weeks, it was hard for us to tell. Thank goodness she was the girl under the box on big-little reveal because since then some of my favorite memories have been with her. She has truly been one of my best friends, who will stay with me for life. I will forever be grateful for the fact that KD brought us together.

And it only gets better, not only did I have the best big but her big, who became my grand big, was the best as well. I gained two new best friends that I got to go through college with and hopefully keep for the rest of my life.

The New Orleans sisterhood trip in January 2017 was when I had the chance to meet so many more of my sisters and develop deeper friendships. KD takes a sisterhood trip every year during Martin Luther King weekend. We road tripped and explored new places with some of my best friends and also created new friendships that may not have happened otherwise. Another sisterhood trip was an adventure to Austin. This was just as great as the New Orleans’ trip the year before. New friendships were born, memories were made, and we got to see the hometown of one of our sisters.

And 2017 it was my turn to become a big! I can honestly say my KD “family” has been the biggest blessing and one of the best things about Kappa Delta. Needless to say I got super lucky with getting a little who has now become another one of my best friends. This is what has made me enjoy Kappa Delta so much. Meeting these girls who I have so much in common with has been one of the biggest highlights of college.

As you can see, what I treasure the most about KD is the friendships Kappa Delta has given me. I have gotten to know some of the best people and learn so many things from all of them. College would have been very lonely if I did not have these girls by my side. I love being able to count on people and know that they will always be there for me. I pray that this is only the start of all the memories I will have with these girls.

AOT,

Claudia Kemper
